Mission: For the development, conservation, supervision, and regulation of natural and historic resources, including water resources, within its territorial limits. (adopted September 2007)

Updates:
• Letter to Editor sent to The Day. Published in the editorial section on March 26. Bill was contacted by 2 people – both agreed with the commissioners’ statements.
• E-mail to Nate Lynch, The Day correspondent, requesting Notable Tree article. Nate has not responded yet. Bill sent him bullets – similar to what was presented in the library + a few pictures.
• Notable trees identification list e-mailed to Conn College for inclusion in CT Notable Tree website
• Stewart Hill Preserve – Forester Mark Darin has sent word to DEEP GIS person to walk the completed spur. During a walk, State has put up new marker signs facing our property. We are done for now.
• Chester Maine Bridle Trail – First Selectman Murphy has e-mail principals. Current status – Jonathan Edwards and homeowners looking to establish a home owners association or unincorporated association to petition the town to give the Town land to the association.
• Water tower/land trade e-mail. Mr. Mullane said he’d follow up with SCWA
• Conservation easements – several now need to be inspected. Divvy up! – deferred until next month. Bill to detail on the list which easements are done and which need to be done.
New Business:
• Annual CC goals: Review and continue to work on PCRL goals & objectives – postponed.
Planning, Economic Development and Zoning Officer – Juliet Hodge - sent email to all boards & commission chairs asking to meet with us to see what we’ve done in the last 3 years. (Discussion of Conservation and Recreation and development of action plan)
What have we done on the PCRL – or at least be responsible for thus far.
o Goal on amount of open space to be protected – hard to do this – will ask Juliet for direction
• Pocket Park update. List of donors (NSCLA, Christies Landscaping, 6 individuals)
o Grant application submitted to Chelsea-Groton Foundation
o Grant from NSCLA of $700 promised
o Survey design submitted to CT-DOT
o No-mow sedge expense
Some changes to the plan recommended – no Japanese Barberry (invasive); replace flowing crab with native dogwood (Cornus Florida); no Emerald Green arborvitae (Red Cedar substitute: Green Giant)
