NORTH STONINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING AT NEW TOWN HALL
September 25, 2013 @ 6:00 pm
Minutes
Call to Order @ 6:20 pm
Present : Bill Ricker, Warren Speh, Dick Blodgett (6:40) No quorum
Excused: Pat Lewis, Mike Charnetski
In the absence of a secretary, Ricker took notes
No minutes from August as it was a workshop on the proposed 2014 calendar.
Treasurer’s report: Signs for Hangman Hill and Assekonk Borderlands preserves were encumbered from 2012-2013 funds. Error on a map led to an additional $100 for one of the three signs to be redone.
Ongoing Business:
- POCD map was not available to review the changes. Ricker to approve when completed.
- Trail signs: Fleury made the three stanchions for the signs and he Ricker planted them. We got good press with an article and picture in The Sun.
- Notable Tree campaign at a standstill. Will resurrect after the calendar goes to press.
- Peter Block, owner of the land adjoining the Stillman Hill Preserve trail entrance was contacted by Ricker and is supportive of using a portion of his land for a trail detour. After leaf fall, Marc Tate and Ricker will GPS the trail location for Block to approve. We will need commission members for a work detail to open this trail – primarily weed wacking and brush clipping.
Calendar pictures for fall and winter from Lewis and Blodgett were reviewed. Blodgett supported Ricker making final picture choices for remaining months.
Correspondence:
Block letter, Avalonia invite to a lecture, CACIWC newsletter and conference brochure.
Member Forum: nothing
Adjournment at 7:05 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
~Bill Ricker, secretary pro tem
