7:00 Call to Order-Selectman Donahue called the meeting to order with First Selectman Murphy, Selectman Mullane present. Robert Carlson, Christine Wagner, Dave McCord, Walt Mathwich, Alex Karpinski, Peter Nero and
Robbie McCarthy from the BOE. Also in attendance were Tim Pelland, Emil Pavlovics, Carolyn Howell, and Chris Hundt from the Board of Finance. Permanent School Member Jim Lord, and Ad Hoc Committee members, Mike Urgo, Pam Potemri, Jay Peterson, Mike Osborn,
Mike Anderson, Tyler DiBrino, and Dan Spring. Rusty Malik from Quisenberry Architects was also present.
Public Comments
Ad Hoc Committee Plan Updates-Objectives of the Committee, safety, maintenance, energy, and Educational upgrades were discussed. Also reviewed were ideas on how to minimize construction costs, maximize State reimbursement, communications,
review of different options and review of meeting with State of Connecticut Department of Education and School Staff on needs and finances.
Ad Hoc Subcommittee Updates-
Existing Facilities Use-Still searching for other uses and rentals
Communications-Working to keep taxpayers informed and planning hearings
Finance-A draft bond schedule was reviewed
Updating Facilities and Impact on Local Economy
Effect of Facility Updates on Academics -New Handout was provided
General Discussion/Feedback on Updates-First Selectman Murphy discussed the maintenance of existing unused school buildings so they will not become a blight. This will add cost of maintenance to the project.
