MINUTES

Call to Order 7:07 PM with Selectmen Mullane and Donahue present.

Public Comments and Questions- Mark Sebastian of the Eastern Pequot Group addressed the Selectmen regarding the 100 acres that the Town received as a gift on Wintechog Hill Road late last year.  He stated that the site was special to the Eastern Group and had previously been the location of PowWows and that the land has historical and Indian archaeological value.  He requested that the Town give the Eastern Pequot Group the 100 acres that First Selectman Mullane stated the Town will have to review and research his request as to what procedure could/would be used to administer his request if the Town was in agreement.

Greg Leonard STEAP Grant water tower discussion-Mr. Leonard’s presentation on the water tower revealed that a tower is needed to be taller and larger to be of real value and to be able to provide fire suppression and the cost would exceed the $500,000, STEAP limit therefore, it was decided to request funds for a sewer study to connect with Stonington.  Selectman Mullane will develop a grant request for the Selectmen to review.

Minutes-A motion was made by Selectman Donahue to approve the minutes of July 10, 2012, seconded by Selectman Mullane, carrying.  2-0.

Selectman Murphy arrived at 7:18 PM.
