HISTORICAL NOTE:  A major rainstorm struck the region on March 30, 2010.  The region received massive amounts of

rain and North Stonington received over 9 inches of rain in a two day period on top of the 9+ inches

it received earlier in the month.  The storm caused major flooding throughout Town in twenty five separate spots of road flooding road damage.  Our residents experienced flooding and water damage to many homes and a business in the Village housed in a 165 year old structure.  The Watermark Café was extensively damaged and may have to be torn down.  The Main Street Town Hall bridge was damage to a point where it will have to be replaced and the Lewis Pond Dam at the Hewitt Property was extensively damaged and may require total rebuilding.  In addition to the damage in North Stonington to Town roads and structures three State owned bridges were damaged and there was flooding on many state roads.  It was stated by many of our older residents that flooding occurred in Town where they had never seen water before.  (See attached damage listing)
