New Town Hall Conference Room

April 3, 2007

                   7:00 PM

Call to Order-7:02 PM, with Selectmen Mullane, Peterson and Hescock present

Public Comments and Questions-None present


Minutes-

A motion was made by Selectman Mullane, seconded by Selectman Peterson to approve the minutes of March 20, 2007, carrying.  3-0


A motion was made by Selectman Peterson seconded by Selectman Hescock to approve the minutes of March 27, 2007, carrying.  3-0

 Old Business-

1.      Tribal Recognition-The Historical Pequots (aka Eastern and Paucatuck Eastern Pequots) have announced that they will renew their efforts to contest the rejection of their Federal Acknowledgment.

2.      Annexation-No report

3.      Route 2 Road Modifications-Executive Session-Attorney update-Court Date set for April 9, 2007, in New Britain.

4.       Subdivision Review and Planning and Zoning Issues-Adult Community-Selectman Mullane voiced concerns about the units being placed in remote areas, dirt roads, or areas difficult to service by Emergency Vehicles.

5.      Assekonk Swamp Walkway

6.      Permanent School Building Project Committee activities-A priority list is being prepared by the Board of Education and PSPBC

7.      Appointments to Boards and Commissions

            Economic Development Commission –A motion was made by        Selectman Mullane to appoint Erik Caster, Pendleton Hill Road to the     Commission to fill the unexpired term of Joe Siner, seconded by Selectman Peterson, carrying.  3-0

            Tourism District-Selectman Hescock asked that the appointment be postponed until next week.

8.      Town financial accounting/software to complete the 2005-06 Audit preparations-Need to reconcile with BOE

9.      State (STEAP) grant requests-No request to be made this year

10. Little League added appropriation request-General Discussion on  reverter clause, the Selectmen would like the Town included as first right and option to continue to operate the complex as a baseball facility for the Town of North Stonington.  Marked up letter by Selectmen to develop new letter.

11. Budget 2007-08-No action

12. Federal FY 07-Local Road accident reduction program-Light at Swantown Hill Road discussed as candidate.

New Business

1.      Memorial Day Parade approval-A motion to approve was made by Selectman Mullane, seconded by Selectman Peterson, carrying.  3-0

2.      Town Hall Improvements-Project is on hold for Main Street crosswalk.  Present pricing cost to high

3.      Kidds and Co., LLC public water system-OK letter and have day care center provide own water system.
