Public Comments and Questions
The Town of North Stonington request that the State aid to municipalities not be reduced in any way. We would also request that all grants and aid amounts; including Elderly, Veterans, PILOT, etc. grants be fully funded not prorated.
Any cuts in State aid to the cities and towns will result in an increase in local taxes.
It is requested that you support the Council of Governments, Council of Small Towns, and Connecticut Conference of Municipalities Legislative Agendas.
It is also requested that reforms and revisions be made to:
• Improve the business, employment and economic development conditions in Connecticut
• Improve State permitting and process approval
• Binding Arbitration
• Prevailing Wages
• Support COG funding and their regionalization issues.
• Eliminate the Minimum Budget Requirement (MRB) for Education
• Relief from Special Education mandates and revise reimbursements rates
• Revise CGS Affordable Housing 8-30G regulations to not require approval of substandard issues of health, public safety, highway, drainage etc.
