Draft Meeting Minutes
of
Wednesday January 2, 2013
New Town Hall
North Stonington, CT



  • Call to Order:  Chairman Dan Spring called the meeting to order at 7:32 P.M.~    Brent Woodward, Mustapha Ratib, Peter Nimirowski and Mike Urgo were present.  Emile Pavolvics was absent.
  • Public Comments and Questions:  No comments or questions. ~

3.      BOS: Gain/Loss Report; Narrow Band Update; Budget Prep (2013-2014):  The General Fund Gain/Loss report for the period July 1, 2012 through January 2, 2013 was reviewed with no significant comments.

        First Selectman Nick Mullane informed the Board that the narrow band radio funding ($65K) for the first phase was expended and that the Town was in compliance with the state mandate.  Nick Mullane agreed to determine if the Town was obliged to inform the state of it progress.  Other Town project updates are as follows:

  • Town Hall bridge effort is down to completing final details which includes facing the concrete with stones.  This task is somewhat weather dependent.
  • Village Green bridge repair is in the current year schedule and estimated to be $150K to $200K.
  • Hewitt Dam repair is unfunded at present.
  • Boombridge Road bridge repair task requires a hydrostatic study be made at a cost of $16,000. The Town’s share would be $3,200.
FY 2013/2014 budget preparations have commenced.  An early estimate of a  to one mil increase may be needed to support government spending projections.    
   
    

4.      BOE: Middle School Boiler:  A proposal from the BOE for middle school boiler repair/replacement including cost has not yet been forthcoming.   

5.      Previous Minutes:  Dan Spring moved to approve the minutes of December 19, 2012 as amended.  The motion was seconded by Peter Nimirowski and passed 5-0-0.   

  • Future Strategies:  Deferred.    
   
7.  Adjournment:  A motion was made by Dan Spring to adjourn.  The motion was seconded by Peter Nimirowski and passed 5-0-0.  The meeting was adjourned at 09:39 PM.
