June 23, 2011

In Attendance:  Tim Pelland, Michelle Brophy,  and James Scaramozza

Absent:  Mary Ann Ricker and Stella Neves-Elbaum

Guests:  Juliet Leeming

Location:  Wheeler High School Media Center

The meeting was called to order by Co-Chairman Tim Pelland at 6:00 PM.  It was moved. Seconded and carried to formally approve the minutes of the May 26 2011 meeting.

The committee first discussed the status of the current housing/affordable housing projects and included in their discussion a potential senior housing development that may be pursued by a private developer (Patrick Levantino).  It was decided that at next Board of Selectmen (BOS) meeting in which members of the Committee will attend (as discussed in greater detail below), such members would confer with the BOS about this.

We then discussed the June 7th BOS meeting that was attended by certain Committee members It was decided that the Committee would seek to attend the July 12th BOS meeting to further discuss certain of the requests made by BOS of the Committee.  Also, Juliet Leeming offered to listen to the tape of the meeting to confirm certain directives and discussion points of that June 7th meeting.

The balance of the meeting was then spent on the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) that Juliet Leeming has prepared  with the Committee’s input.  She was going to make a few minor edits to  it, and thereafter resubmit a final draft for Committee review.  After we have approved same, she was going to post the RFQ at certain State and national consulting websites.  We were encouraged to forward the final, approved RFQ to any consultants that we thought may be interested in responding to the RFQ.

A motion was made and thereafter seconded that the committee meeting be adjourned at 6:58 p.m.

The next meeting will be held Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 6:00 PM at the Wheeler High School Media Center.

Respectfully Submitted,

James Scaramozza, Acting Recording Secretary
