North Stonington Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
April 20, 2010
In attendance: Michelle Brophy, James Scaramozza, Tim Pelland, Stella Neves-Elbaum, Mary Ann Ricker
Absent: none
Guests: none
Tim Pelland, co chairman, called the meeting to order at 6:00PM.
It was moved, seconded and carried, with one abstention, to approve the minutes of the March 16,, 2010 meeting.
The committee discussed the proposed Education Brochure and additional ways to explain the concept of Affordable Housing to our community. It was agreed to defer the writing of a brochure at this time
The committee discussed meeting with local business owners and church leaders from the community for their input to determine the best way to explain the concept of Affordable Housing to the town. We agreed to contact, thru Town Hall and the Tax Department, the five largest tax-paying businesses and the churches located in town, and invite them to our June meeting as a focus group.
Jim Scaramozza agreed to contact the Town Planner’s office for more information on the zoning of land owned by the town and state for review as potential sites for Affordable Housing.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:15pm.
The next meeting will be May 18, 2010 at 6:00 pm, Elementary School Library.
