North Stonington Affordable Housing Advisory Committee
May 18, 2010

Tim Pelland, co chairman, called the meeting to order at 6:05 PM.
It was moved, seconded and carried to approve the minutes of the April 20, 2010 meeting.
The committee discussed the meeting this month of the town P&Z Board, and specifically the Mill Town Commons proposal. Mary Ann Ricker and James Scaramozza attended the meeting and presented a letter from the AHAC advising the P&Z Board to include 20% deed restricted affordable housing units in the proposed development.
The committee agreed that we would attend and both of our chairmen will explain our position at the P&Z Board’s public hearing on June 10th, regarding the Mill Town Commons proposal. The letter we sent to P&Z on May 5th will also be read into the record.
The committee will contact the top 20 taxpayer list and church leaders to personally invite them to our June 15th focus group. Those who cannot attend will be contacted by Michelle Brophy, who will visit them for their input. Jane Dauphinais has created a questionnaire for us to use as talking points.
The Board of Selectmen has spoken with some of our members about our progress. Stella Neves-Elbaum will contact the Board of Selectmen for direction of how they want us to report on our activities and to get their input.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:35pm.
The next meeting will be June 15, 2010 at 6:00 pm, Elementary School Library.
