Chairman Mauceri called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m. in Room 14 at Town Hall in the presence of members Mr. O’Leary, Mr. Yull, Mr. Veno, Mr. Delaney and the Town Administrator Greg Balukonis, Finance Director Joseph Tassone and Finance Committee members Don Kelleher, Dan Pulver, Alan Wolpin, Richard Johnson and John Blanchette.
The following Budgets were discussed:
FIRE/EMS
Fire Chief Richard Harris presented the FY11 Fire Department budget. The Chief reviewed the Mechanic, Call Department, EMS, Fire Alarm, Communications and Operations. There were questions for Chief Harris and he was directed to provide additional detail costs for telephones, FY09 expenditure for other supplies, etc. The Board recommended a floater fire fighter be negotiated with the Union going forward.
POLICE
Police Chief Edward Nolan and Lt. Kevin Brennan presented the FY11 Police Department budget. The Chief was asked to follow-up on Quinn Bill eligibility concerning officers who continue to further their education. The Board requested Quinn Bill exposure be calculated and noted in the budget.
DPW
DPW Director Richard Carnevale, Water Supt. Mark Clark and John Welsh presented an overview of all the FY11 DPW budgets. Mr. Carnevale explained the total DPW budget, inclusive of all divisions, is level funded.
