Board of Selectmen Minutes 05/18/2006
Chairman Mauceri called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. in Room B108 at North Reading High School in the presence of members Mr. Harris, Mr. Dardeno, Mr. O’Leary and Town Administrator Greg Balukonis.  Atty. Darren Klein and Atty. Kathleen O’Donnell from Kopelman and Paige were also present.  Selectman Joe Veno was absent.

#2.     TOWN MEETING ISSUES
Chairman Mauceri summarized actions required under Article 13.  The total amount which is to be transferred is $257,535.  

The Board reviewed the Chapter 40R zoning article and made the following motion:

        MR. CHAIRMAN, I MR. DARDENO MOVE TO ACCEPT THE LETTER OF        ELIGIBILITY FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING & COMMUNITY  DEVELOPMENT PURSUANT TO 760 CMR 59.05 REGARDING THE BERRY       CENTER RESIDENTIAL 40R OVERLAY DISTRICT.

        SECONDED BY:    MR. O’LEARY
        VOTED:          UNANIMOUS (4-0)

The Board reviewed options in the event a quorum is not present at Town Meeting.

FLOOD DAMAGE    
Mr. O’Leary complimented the DPW and Police Department on their efforts during the recent flooding.  Additional discussion concerning road closures due to flooding was provided by the Town Administrator.  He noted FEMA and MEMA were going to be in North Reading Friday to assess damage to the public infrastructure.

#1.     MINIT AND MILITIA
Nick O’Brien of the Minit and Militia was present at this time and requested the Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator attend the Memorial Day Parade.  The Board designated Chairman Mauceri as the speaker.

Mr. O’Brien also requested the pile of asphalt in front of Mike Hartery’s garage on Rt. 62 be removed.
