Parks and Recreation Meeting Minutes of
Monday, March 3, 2014
Town Hall, Room 5 at 7pm
Committee attended BOS meeting at 7pm-8pm to present budget.

Rita left meeting at 8:05pm.
Acceptance of Minutes: 2/3/14
(PF) Pat made a motion to accept the minutes of 2/3/14 as is.

New Business:
- Sheila updated everyone on the auction and distributed tickets to members to sell.
- Sheila updated everyone on sponsors. Committee asked that we have Maria contact past sponsors.
- Lynne updated everyone on the restaurants and assignments will be done on 3/17/14.
- Mike updated everyone on the wines and beers, same budget as last year. Dropped quantity to 15 cases but upped the quality of the products. One stop will be printing flyers again for products. Everything will be delivered on day of event. One stop is donating a wine basket on that day as well.
- Maureen and Marty met with Coca-Cola Rep. We can buy product and stock ourselves but we would have to store product. For 35% commission they will provide machines, stock machines, maintain machines, and provide coolers for inside concession stands. Coca-Cola will also give us a $500 sponsor donation. They will start with 3 machines at IRP and 1 at Turf. Machines will have debit card capabilities.

Old Business
- Parks Director Update (MT)
- Staff: Matt Prince is leaving; he was hired by the water dept. Owen Krol and James McMullen are coming back. Will look for someone to fill Matt’s position.
- Alex Carpenter Homecoming: Saturday event welcoming home Alex Carpenter from the Olympics. There will be speakers and photo opportunity.
- Recreation Director Update(LC)
- Recreation Center: Floor is being replaced by Labo Carpet. They gave us the best price. Carpet in two rooms and Tile in Kitchen. They have to do extra work leveling the floor and replacing rotted area. Should be completed by Wednesday.
- Project Mural: Lynne and Maria taught Project Mural class were kids painted a mural on the Recreation Center walls and got to sign their names. They saved a lot of money teaching the class themselves. The children had a wonderful time.
- Budgets and Programs: Lynne is trying to plan more programs that are taught us and keeping expenses down therefore our profit margin is better.
- Operation Director Update (MS)
- BBQ Series: Maureen has booked all the bands, children’s entertainment and already has 2 sponsors.
- Farmer’s Market: Letter to Editor was in the Transcript asking if anyone is interested in a Farmer’s Market and helping out. Sent Vendor the information that we are NOT doing a craft fair this year.
- MyRec.com: This program is going great. Looking forward to getting the module for the summer camp program.
