Parks and Recreation Meeting Minutes of Monday, March 4, 2013

- W&F is the same night as the vote in town
How many servers do we need for the wine, we had 6 last year do we need them all. Committee stated that we do need all 6.
Also we usually pay $6 per person to HCC, what is that for? Committee explained that covers the hall and staff, all except Wine servers. Wine servers are separated and are paid $80 per server for the night.
- RM asking if LC can meet with Hillview Commission on 3/20 at 6:30pm at the next meeting they will have. LC said she could.
- Park Director Update (MT)
- Youth League meeting: working on a date to meet with everyone.
- Recreation Director Update(LC)
- YMCA: met w/ Olga Arnold. YMCA is not allowing nonmembers to attend any classes anymore. YMCA is asking to work with P&R in collaboration to run Boot Camp type programs at parks. They will supply the instructor, we will keep profits. We have asked YMCA to work with us on a swimming program. Olga will s/w the YMCA and get back to us.
- Spring/Summer Planning: Just starting to plan spring/summer programs for brochures. Waiting to hear back from previous employees to see who wants to come back this year. We have had to cut summer office assistant position hours and cut out 2 counselors completely.

- Operation Director Update (MS)
- Twitter: We now have a Twitter account set up
- BBQ Concert Series: All entertainment lined up. Working on sponsors and grants
- BOS Meeting: MS is scheduled for the BOS budget meeting tonight.
- Earth Day- Janet Nicosia has asked if Recreation would be willing to participate in a community day of Earth Day. Lynne stated that she has spoken with Janet and Recreation is planning something to participate in Earth Day.
- Rita Suggested an Exercise Class- Ron offered to teach and exercise class. Lynne is not sure if the instructor would need to be certified. She will check into it.
- Craft Fair: Rita asking for names of entities that may want to perform at the craft fair for 15 minutes to half hour.
- Community Center: LUC has said they are prioritizing the community center as important.
- CIT Updates (RM): Rita looking for the name of a coach’s alliance group that was mentioned once. Will research.
- FONRPRC Updates (SS):
- Youth Dance: 3/8/13 asking for members to help. SC, RM, BL will help. Have 9 HS community Service kids helping as well.
