Parks and Recreation Meeting Minutes of Monday, April 2, 2012

New Business
NRLL Board is asking for more scholarships over the 5 allowed just for this year. They said they are experiencing low registration and a lot more request for scholarships. No other leagues have asked for more scholarships over the 5 allotted.
(SC) Sergio would like to table this subject until after he attends the NRLL meeting on 4/5/12.
(RK) Ron suggested that the leagues should try to ask for a 50% fee.
(PF) Pat expressed that she believes it would cause a domino effect.
(BL) Billie tables subject until next meeting.
- 4th of July Committee (MS): Maureen suggested having the 4th of July committee come for a meeting with us. Marty said he does not mind attending one of their meetings. Our committee said to let Marty go to their meeting.
- Vendor Cart (MS/SS): Explained that it has been presented to FONRPRC to purchase a hotdog cart from Ray Penney for $3000. Discussion was had at the FONRPRC meeting. Decision is pending.
Rita left our meeting at 7:45pm to go to BOS meeting
Old Business
- (MS) Hillview has been paid. Wine Check has been processed already.
- (MF) Mike summarized wines used and left over. He would like to keep the budget same for next year and order more quality wines. Great feedback from public on wines and distributor.
- Need better description sheets for wines for next year.
- Everyone complimented Mike on the ordering and handling of the wines this year and how smooth everything went.

- Parks Director Updates (MT)
- Camera’s at IRP: Camera’s will be installed this week at concession stand. Bob Vadaro installed motion detection lights in the area to help out with visibility of cameras.
- Bathrooms at IRP: The men’s room is having an issue of clogging. A part has been ordered and we are waiting delivery.
- Recreation Director Updates (LC)
- Spring/Summer Brochure: Will be in transcript on 4/12/12. Will be on website the week before. Brochure is packed with programs and weekend programs added as well. Vacation week is loaded with clinics.
- Summerscape Director: Still interviewing. Have not made a decision yet.
- Summerscape location: Summerscape camp will be at the E Ethel Little School. Probably will not be able to go to IRP every Tuesday for sports day because now we will have to pay a bus. May do a couple of time during the summer as drop off and pick up them at IRP will see.
- Maria Brown Hours: Maria has been working a lot of hours. The committee has asked for a summary for the next meeting.
- Operations Director Updates (MS)
- Budgets: FY2013 budget was submitted. Discussion was had.
- Permitting of fields: permitting for field and sports is very busy.
- Smith Property walk through: they walked through the Smith property on Saturday to scope the land and see the boundaries. They need to find a better map showing all types of land out there such as wet lands, etc. Great piece of land.
- FONRPRC, Inc Updates-(SS):
- Pitch Hit Run event on April 29th at Rita Mullin field. Registration at 2:30pm Events are from 3-6pm. Billie stated that we have been asked to hold the regional’s for this event here as well. We will check on dates and times.
Other Business
- Skate Park: Tabled until next meeting
- Next Meeting date (SS)
- Meeting at Town Hall on 4/25/12 in Gym.
(MF) Mike Fitzpatrick made a motion to adjourn meeting at 8:45 pm.
(SC) Sergio Coviello seconds the motion.
