Parks and Recreation Meeting Minutes of May 09, 2007

(SC) Sergio Coviello made a motion to accept the minutes from 04/23/07 committee meeting and the minutes from 03/26/07 committee meeting.
(ML) Melissa Lewis seconds the motion.

Old Business
IRP Hockey Park issues and Discussion
A discussion on the status of the structure of the Hockey Rink at Ipswich River Park. After an
on site evaluation it has been determined that the Steel Rib structure are in good condition and still can
be used. Two different options of repairs are being discussed. The idea of a user fee has been talked
about to defer costs of upkeep.
Dog Park
A discussion was had regarding the Dog Park and a petition that was filed with the town to have
the Selectmen intervene with the committee and the resolution of the Dog Park issue. A
Selectmen's meeting was held on May 7th, 2007 to discuss the issue. After discussing the matter
the Selectmen have agreed with for NR P & R to allow the committee to hold a public hearing on the
Dog Park issue. This meeting will be held on June 11th, 2007 at 7:00pm in the Selectmen's Room at
Town Hall. The committee will gather all the information together and present it to the public at which
time they are looking forward to hearing the opinion of the community.
New Business
Lincoln Property public safety issues
There has been discussion that there should be a fence installed around the detention pond at Mullin Field
to avoid any safety issue that may arise. The detention pond was created when Lincoln Properties developed
the land at the John T. Berry site.

Other Business
Financials Review
A discussion was had regarding the status of revenues for Baseball Little League. The committee questioned
whether the revenues seemed low. It was explained that the revenues have not all been received yet due to the timing of sign ups for the league and processing of registrations. There were a few more questions regarding line items on the financials which were answered by the staff.
Schedule for next Committee meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for May 22, 2007 at Town Hall in Room 5.
