Living Shoreline | Walton Beach Nature Preserve
The construction of a living shoreline on the site of the Walton Beach Nature Preserve has been completed. This project involved restoration of 50-60 feet of beach lost to erosion and stabilizing the new shoreline with plantings and a stone sill. In June, biology students from Huntingtown High School planted the last of the grasses and collected data about the progress of the water quality, habitat and biodiversity of the shoreline. Here you will find a Media Report with details of this project.
