The Ad Hoc Tick Borne Disease Action Committee held a meeting on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road, Sandy Hook, CT

MINUTES

Present:  Mark Alexander, Kirk Blanchard, Neil Chaudhary, David Delia, Mary Gaudet-Wilson, Michele McLeod, George Miller, and Kim Harrison; Absent: Robert Grossman, Peter Licht, and Maggie Shaw; Also Present:  Pat Boily and Dave Shugarts

Dr. McLeod convened the meeting at 8:05 p.m.  

Approval of Minutes:  The minutes of February 23, 2011 were tabled.

Dr. McLeod opened discussion on the review of the draft reports.  

Dr. Chaudhary reviewed the Motor Vehicle Report.  It was determined to change the name from DVA (Deer Vehicle Accidents) to DVC (Deer Vehicle Crashes).  The Forestry report was then discussed, as well as the Education Section, Landscaping, Metrics, etc.  

In regards to the Landscape Section, Mr. Alexander motioned that the report (in the portion discussing sprays) should specifically mention that “Echo Exempt” is known to be effective.  Ms. Gaudet-Wilson seconded the motion. Ayes: 4; Nays: 3; Abstain: 1.

The committee will meet again on March 16, 2011.  The Vaccine, Forest and “Defining the Problem” reports, along with the Speaker Summaries will be discussed next.  Appendices, biographies, and the introduction will be worked on.  The committee discussed writing and submitting personal thoughts and conclusions.

Adjournment Ms. Harrison motioned to adjourn the meeting at 10:00 pm.  Mr. Alexander seconded the motion.  Motion approved unanimously.
