The Board of Selectmen held a Special Meeting on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the office of the Finance Director at the Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT
to reconcile final budget numbers.
PRESENT: First Selectman Borst, Selectman Mangiafico, Selectman Rosenthal
ALSO PRESENT: Finance Director Robert Tait.
First Selectman Borst called the meeting to order at 10:05 a.m. explaining that the purpose of the meeting is to finalize the numbers of the budget.
Carole Ross, Human Resource Director and John Poeltl, Chief Building Inspector approached the Board for clarity on a motion made at a budget deliberation meeting to eliminate a building inspector position. It was decided that the personnel issues are to be addressed in executive session. There was no executive session noted on the agenda therefore this matter was not taken any further.
Selectman Borst stated that the Lake Zoar Authority budget may decrease. A Lake Zoar Authority meeting to discuss that budget has not yet been held.
Selectman Mangiafico moved to reduce Account 580 Debt Service, line 2001from $7,688,867 to $7,438,867.MAIN MOTION WAS AMENDED ($10,309,974) UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED. Selectman Mangiafico also moved the total Board of Selectman budget in the amount of $38,000,069. Selectman Rosenthal seconded. All in favor.
First Selectman Borst stated he thought a good job was done. Selectman Mangiafico agreed and stated that the Board of Selectmen should be united in presenting the budget to the Board of Finance. The budget being presented is 3.6% below this years budget.
ADJOURNMENT: Having no further business First Selectman Borst moved to adjourn the special meeting of the Board of Selectmen at 10:30 a.m. Selectman Mangiafico seconded. All in favor.
