MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE TOWN OF NEWTOWN BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS HELD ON TUESDAY NOVEMBER 22, 2011
At 5:30 P. M., the meeting was called to order by Chair Person Duane Giannini. Present were Commissioners Brian Budd, James Viadero, Bruce Walzcak and Andrew Sachs. Also present were Chief Kehoe, and Captain Rios.
At 5:31 P. M the Board, Chief and Captain went into executive session for the purpose of interviewing Lieutenant and Sergeant Candidates and to review performance evaluation reports.
At 8:02 P. M. the Board came out of executive session.
The Chairman thanked all candidates for showing up and presenting themselves to the Board in a most professional manner.
At 8:04 P. M. a motion was made by Commissioner Budd to promote Sergeant Richard Robinson to the rank of Lieutenant, effective January 1, 2012, seconded by Commissioner Walczak, and unanimously carried.
At 8:05 P. M. a motion was made by Commissioner Walczak to promote Officer Steven Santucci to the rank of Sergeant, effective January 1, 2012, seconded by Commissioner Viadero, the motion carried 4-1 with Commissioner Sachs voting nay.
A brief ceremony was held honoring the departing members from the Board, for Commissioners Walczak and Giannini. Both were recognized for their years of service to the community, The Newtown Board of Police Commissioners and to the Newtown Police Department.
A motion was made by Commissioner Walzcak to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Commissioner Viadero, and unanimously carried.
