Newtown Pension Committee
Minutes
January 19, 2010
The Newtown Pension Committee met on Monday, January 19, 2010 in Town Hall South. The meeting was called to order at 7:38pm.
Present: Tom Murtha, Barbara Bloom, Frank Krasowski, Dunham Smith, Mark Korotash, Steve Shaffer.
Also in attendance: Carole Ross.
Approval of Minutes December 14th: Passed as written.
Election of Officers: Tom Murtha was nominated as Chairman, Dunham Smith – Treasurer. Motion passed.
Approval of Bills: $2085 for services. Motion passed.
A motion was made for Mrs. Ross to write a letter to TR Paul asking if check writing fees could be reduced as they are now made electronically.
Public Participation: None
Mrs. Ross advised the committee that she had been asked by two former employees if they could retire under disability as they had now become so. Mrs. Ross had discussed this with David Leonard and as they were no longer employees, they did not qualify. The committee agreed.
Rate of Return: After discussion, the committee has decided to wait until the March meeting with Westport Resources to decide on a final plan for lowering the rate of return.
