Gentlemen:
As had been requested, at the June 1st meeting of the Newtown Pension Committee a discussion took place regarding a recommendation for additional funding to the Pension Plan. This discussion resulted in the following statement:
In keeping with our policy on only making recommendations based on our actuary’s advice, we do not think an additional contribution to the Pension Trust Fund is required at this time.
However, considering the current volatility of the market during this economic downturn, if the Board of Selectmen chooses to fund an additional amount the Pension Committee would not object.
