MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF
THE NEWTOWN PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
TOWN HALL SOUTH
NOVEMBER 16, 2011
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Marks called the meeting to order at 6:02pm.
Commission Members present: Marks, Crick Owen, Brookes, DiNicola, and Yanni, Jr.
Commission Members absent: Barczak and Yochum
Staff present: Mangold, Reggiano and Samuelson
Staff absent: None
Public: None
OLD BUSINESS
1. 2012/2013 BUDGET WORKSHOP
- The Revised Budget Request sheets were handed out to all members and staff present and reviewed. This budget request summary shows the full amount of money requested. Also handed out were reductions in Capital approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission. This included Capital Infrastructure and Capital Improvement Projects.
- The Commission agreed on the following for the Capital Infrastructure projects. That the $52,000.00 Treadwell Sidewalk Installation be paid for with $26,000.00 from the budget and $26,000.00 from the Surcharge Account. This item is a safety issue at the Park. The $38,000.00 Treadwell Pavers & Tennis Retaining Wall project will be paid for out of the Surcharge Account. The $30,000.00 Dog Park – Fencing Installation be reduced to $25,000.00 and the additional $25,000.00 will be raised by the Friends of Park and Bark. Two items were cut from the original request list.
- The following items were left in the Capital Equipment request: Toro 5910 Lease, $19,500.00; Large Area Aerator, $32,000.00: Tow behind Sweeper, $13,500.00: Replace 2001 Chevy K2500 Pickup, 72,000.00 (12 yr replacement cycle.); Cut off Saw/Weed Eaters/Back Pack Blowers $3,000.00. Seven items were cut from the original request list.
- Charter Communications will be installing the fiber switch at Eichler’s Cove next week.
