AD HOC DOG PARK COMMITTEE
TOWN HALL SOUTH
NOVEMBER 3, 2009
CALL TO ORDER
Assistant Director Recreation RoseAnn Reggiano called the meeting to order at 6:09 pm.
Committee Member present: Ruth and Robert Hutchinson, Monica Roberto, Audrey Greeenwood, Benay Yaffe, Al and Diana DiSabato, Debra Trillhaase, Diana Kruznak. Amy Mangold, Director of Parks and Recreation
1. ELECT CHAIRPERSON AND SECRETARY
¨ No Chairperson or secretary elected.
¨ Members who are able to vote: Robert Hutchinson, Monica Roberto, Audrey Greenwood, Benay Yaffe
2. Fund Raising Ideas
¨ Set up table at supermarket for donations.
¨ Dog Wash
¨ Halloween Parade
¨ Sunday Am Dog Walk and Coffee
¨ Dog and Family Portrait
¨ Create a Dog House decoration contest, like a gingerbread contest.
¨ Sell bricks in honor/memory of your beloved pet.
3. OTHER
¨ No chairperson or secretary was elected.
¨ Everyone introduce themselves and their interest, why a dog park is needed.
¨ Need a fenced in area.
¨ Wants to know how it is being funded; fundraising
¨ Members suggested that we look at Holcomb Farm as a possible site for Dog Park. Robert Hutchinson agreed to check into it.
¨ Water for the park was a big concern.
¨ Should there be 2 areas, 1 for small dogs and 1 for big dogs.
¨ Dog Park good idea dogs need to socialize.
¨ Need drinking water for park, restrooms.
¨ Wanted to know about possible area at Fairfield Hills
¨ Members were shown map of possible location, across from the Governor Horse Guard.
¨ Check with Town Clerk’s office to see if they can add a $2.00 surcharge to Dog License for the Dog Park.
¨ Get email addresses for all dog licenses.
¨ Monica Roberto agreed to create a website for Dog Park.
¨ Audrey Greenwood will be our liaison with PTAs
¨ Ruth Hutchinson agreed to be outside the supermarkets for donations, when weather gets warmer.
¨ What cost of fencing would be?
¨ Set up a logo and name of the park contest thru the schools.
¨ Advertise for a graphics design person, to donate their time, for a design.
¨ Invite other organizations to next meeting who have created a Dog Park. Friends of Southbury, BarkPark, ROAR, Town of Glastonbury and New Fairfield.
¨ First Tuesday of month, need to check if room is available
¨ Next meeting set for December 1st at 6:30 pm
