Minutes of Board of Directors Meeting
May 20, 2013 – 6:30 PM

Members Present: Maureen Birden, David Moseman, Tom Murtha, Steve Meeker, Karen White, Rosalie Newman, Rick Child, Kathy McCleary, Sheilah Krasnickas, Susan Giglio, Ashley Mele, Don Ramsey, Jesse Rosenschein, Leslie Polseno, Mackenzie Paige and Jim Solomon
Members Not Present: Diane Savinelli, Leonard Penna (Newtown PD),
Staff Members Present: Candice Bohr, Matt Plourde, Jill Pluta
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 6:32 PM by Tom Murtha.
a) Roll Call- The roll of the Board of Directors was taken by signing in and a quorum was established.
b) Approval of April Minutes - Motion made by Karen White to approve minutes as written. The motion was seconded by Rick Child and passed unanimously.
2. Budget
a) We are discussing raises and would like to take another month to discuss the possible changes
3. Chairman’s Report
a) We need more board members, since the term’s have ended for a few members.
1. If anyone is interested in being on the executive board, we would love to add another person
4. Executive Director’s Report
a) We are still waiting to hear back about the grants on the social workers
b) We are looking to get programs started, Newtown Cares
c) New EPS started, this filled the empty position. They have a full case load.
d) Since February 2013, NYFS has seen 300 walk ins
e) Safety Town is scheduled for July. We are looking for free storage
5. Finance and Treasurer’s Report
a)Picking up more expenses but we are still way above the credit line.
6. Fundraising Committee
a) Donut dash has been canceled

9. Adjournment
A motion was made by Steve Meeker and seconded by Kathy McCleary, to adjourn the meeting at 7:00. The motion passed unanimously.
