10-07-09 Public Hearing

Minutes from the public hearing of the Legislative Council held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 7:00pm in the meeting room at the C.H. Booth Library.  Vice Chair Frances Pennarola called the meeting to order at 7:00pm

Present - Patricia Llodra, Frances Pennarola, Joseph Hemingway, Gary Davis, Jan Brookes, John Aurelia, Paul Lundquist  
Also Present - Mr. Borst, 5 members of the public and one member of the press.

An amendment to the Park and Recreation Commission Ordinance – Mr. Pennarola stated that the auditors initiated these changes.  

Pat Barczak, 21 Grand Place, the Chairman of the Park and Recreation commission voiced his support for the ordinance.  

An amendment to the Commission on Aging Ordinance - Mr. Pennarola stated that this proposed amendment is initiated by the auditors.  

Tom Dwyer, 8 Obtuse Road, Co-chair for the Commission on Aging brought forward a copy of what was published in the Bee with a few minor typos.  He is in support of the ordinance.

George Ferguson, 49 Taunton Hill Road – this is good language for most of the commissions in town, allowing people to make a gift and designate how a gift can or cannot be used.  

An Ordinance creating a Sustainable Energy Commission -  Mr. Pennarola did get an e-mail from Ted Kreinik of the Energy Task Force, who suggested a change he would like to see – such as adding the words – town residents, businesses and organizations may also benefit from.  Mr. Pennarola endorses those changes.

Dan Holmes, 6 Farmery Lane, Chairman of the Energy Task Force would like to endorse this ordinance.

An Ordinance establishing an Other Post Benefit Employee Trust – Designed to establish a trust so the town can put funds that they are required to maintain for medical insurance.  This was suggested by the auditors.  No public Comment.
