Minutes of the Charter Revision Commission Meeting held on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 in the Mary Hawley Room at the Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT.

Chairman Al Cramer called meeting to order at 7:00 pm

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: NONE
MINUTES: Al Cramer approved corrections of the minutes from July 18, 2006 meeting motioned by Joe Hemingway and 2nd by Guy Howard
1st Selectman Herb Rosenthal was guest speaker.
- Discussed 1st Charge referencing 3-30 (a) #3 #4 and #5
- Section 2-40; 7-80; 3-36; 7-90
- Employee section 5-80 (d)
- Page 9 3-10 (a) suggested working on the language of Charge
1st Selectman Rosenthal said he was in favor of expanding terms, not in favor of a Town Manager or expanding the board of Selectman.
Discussed the structure of the Board of Managers and the Board of Education. Mr. Rosenthal was not in favor of splitting the budgets.
Mr. Rosenthal was in favor of reducing the number of budget hearings and eliminating Town Meetings and the Annual Meeting but in favor of replacing them with the option of petitioning for a referendum.
Mr. Rosenthal also discussed the role of the Public Building Committee.
Chairman Al Cramer passed out Commissioner Kits.
