INLAND WETLANDS COMMISSION
MINUTES
Regular Meeting of May 9, 2012 at 7:30 pm
Council Chamber, Municipal Center,
3 Primrose Street, Newtown, CT

Commissioners Present:  Peters, Boily, Pieragostini, Bryan.

Staff Present:  Steve Maguire, Wetlands Enforcement Official, Ann Mazur, Clerk.

Commissioner Peters convened the meeting at 7:30 pm.  

PENDING APPLICATIONS

IW #12-16, 75 Algonquin Trail, application by Garrett Raymond to install a dock and two decks. Larry Miller of Smith Miller Reconstruction, 77 Osborne Hill Road, Sandy Hook, CT.  is returning with information on the planting plan requested by the commission.   He designated four zones and added a legend of what plants will be in each zone. These are plants that grow well without much light. Vinca minor will be in three zones. On the slope two English yews will be planted.  Woodland flax will be three zones. Along the front between the new deck and the 110 line will be fern plants. Hemlocks are 5-6 feet on the north and the west. Between 110 line and the water there are many hemlock saplings that will not be disturbed.

Commissioner Pieragostini  moved to approve the application with standard conditions A, B, C, E, and  

  • The approved plans are “improvement Location Survey 75 Algonquin Trail, .0226 acres Zone R-1, Sandy Hook, Connecticut, prepared for Garrett Raymond” dated January 25, 2012, last revised 5/9/12, scale 1”=10’ with associated support documents.
  • The plantings should be done after construction is completed and should survive one year after planting.
  • Quarterly reports on forms provided on the Town of Newtown website or available in the Land Use office will be submitted to the Commission until the project is complete.
Second by Commissioner Bryan  and unanimously approved.

ACCEPTANCE OF NEW APPLICATIONS.

IW #12-22, 40 Sugar Lane, application by Stephen Paproski to widen a brook. Commissioner Peters will review the application.

IW #12-23, 15 Towns End Road, application by Renee and Robert Kinne for construction of a new house and for a wetlands crossing for the driveway. Commissioner Bryan will review the application.
Announcements.  None noted.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES.  The minutes will be tabled until the next  meeting on May 23, 2012

ADJOURNMENT. Commissioner Bryan   motioned to adjourn the meeting.  Commissioner  Boily   seconded the motion.  The motion was approved and the meeting was adjourned at 7:45  pm.
