The Board of Finance held a regular meeting on Thursday, July 28, 2005 in the meeting room at Town Hall South, Main Street, Newtown, CT.   Chairman John Kortze called the meeting to order at 7:35 pm. 
 
PRESENT: John Kortze, James Gaston, Harrison Waterbury, Michael Portnoy, Joseph Kearney, Peter Giarratano 
                      
ALSO PRESENT:  First Selectman Herbert Rosenthal, Labor Attorney Fred Dorsey (7:50 pm) 
 
VOTER PARTICIPATION:  None present 
 
COMMUNICATIONS:  Chairman Kortze read letters of appreciation from the Womens Center of Danbury and from Ability Beyond Disability for receipt of the town’s allocations in the current budget. 
 
FINANCE DIRECTOR REPORT:  Not present 
 
ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES:  Upon motion by Mr. Gaston, the minutes of the 7/11/05 meeting were unanimously carried. 
 
FIRST SELECTMAN REPORT:  No report 
 
OLD BUSINESS – None 
 
NEW BUSINESS 
 
Discussion with Labor Attorney – Attorney Fred Dorsey was invited by First Selectman Rosenthal to answer questions from members of the Board of Finance regarding labor negotiations, pertaining specifically to health insurance. 
        Mr. Portnoy moved to enter executive session to discuss labor negotiations and to invite Attorney Fred Dorsey to attend.  Motion seconded and unanimously carried. 
        Meeting entered executive session at 7:50 p.m. at which time the clerk left the meeting.  The meeting returned to open session at 9:15 pm and was adjourned.
