Meeting Minutes
The Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC) held a meeting on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 7:00 PM in the Mary Hawley Room at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT.
Members Present: Martin Blanco, Joe Grasso, Jennifer Johnston, Donna Mangiafico, and Jennifer Rogers
Members Absent: Debbie Aurelia, Emily Howard, Rob Kaiser, and Linda Watson
Auxiliary Members Present: None
Guests Present: Walter Motyka
Jennifer Johnston called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM.
The minutes of the May 28, 2009 meeting were tabled until the July 23, 2009 meeting as a quorum was not reached.
Election of officers was tabled until the July 23, 20009 meeting as a quorum was not reached.
Discussion and acceptance of the bylaws was tabled until the July 23, 2009 meeting as a quorum was not reached.
Walter Motyka, of the Fairfield Hills Authority, presented the different phases of the Fairfield Hills Master Plan. He also discussed a proposed outdoor performance area within Fairfield Hills and queried the members present about interest and support. Also discussed was the Fairfield Hills trail-system and the possibility of adding artistic interest such as sculptures by local artists.
Officer Reports:
The Flagpole Radio Café was discussed. Jennifer Johnston announced that the NCAC would make a presentation to the Edmond Town Hall Board of Managers regarding the use of the theater for future Flagpole Radio Café productions.
The July 2009 to June 2010 calendar was discussed. NCAC members were asked to review the calendar and be prepared to make additional recommendations and vote on it at the July meeting.
