Meeting Minutes
The Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC) held a meeting on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 6:00 PM in the Old Courtroom at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT.
Members Present: Debbie Aurelia, Martin Blanco, Joseph Grasso, Jennifer Johnston, Robert Kaiser, Donna Mangiafico, Marina Moscovici, Linda Watson
Auxiliary Members Present: Jennifer Rogers
Present: Judith Mortensen, CT Commission on Culture & Tourism Peer Advisor
Discussion:
Judith Mortensen reviewed what was accomplished at the March 1, 2008 meeting.
Short and long term goals were discussed. In the short term, the NCAC will focus on updating the survey of local artists and cultural arts organizations for promotion on the website. Elected officers will submit a draft of their roles and responsibilities by May 20, 2008 which will be discussed at the May 22, 2008 meeting.
Long term goals include a kick-off event, submitting an annual budget, annual report, election of officers, meeting calendar, and review of the by-laws.
Programs and events were discussed. Members shared their vision of the type of event(s) to offer to the community including: film festivals, concerts, ongoing one-hour program with featured artists, historic lantern tours, interfaith choral concerts, collaborative music & dance event, bus trips to shows and museums, etc.. Members were asked to choose their top three for the next meeting.

Upon a motion, NCAC members were elected to fill the following positions:

Program/Event Manager – Martin Blanco
