Meeting Minutes
The Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC) held a meeting on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 7:00 PM in the Old Courtroom at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT.
Members Present: Debbie Aurelia, Martin Blanco, Joseph Grasso, Jennifer Johnston, Robert Kaiser, Donna Mangiafico, Marina Moscovici, Linda Watson
Auxiliary Members Present: Jennifer Rogers
Present: Judith Mortensen, CT Commission on Culture & Tourism Peer Advisor
Discussion:
Peer Advisor Network:
Judith Mortensen presented her Peer Advisor Network Final Report. Judith will forward resources to Martin Blanco for future reference.
Newtown Cultural Arts Organizations Survey Update:
Marina Moscovici volunteered to maintain the database of organizations and submit them to Rob Kaiser to input onto the NCAC website.
Kick-off Event:
The following events were chosen to offer as kick-off events: Labor Day Parade float, outdoor (foreign) film, outdoor concert. An informal meeting of the NCAC members will be held at Mocha Coffee House on June 5, 2008 at 7:30 PM to begin planning for the parade. Marina Moscovici volunteered to look into films and Jennifer Johnston will research where to hold an outdoor movie in Newtown. Jennifer Rogers has a contact for a jazz concert and will get in touch with him about the possibility of a summer concert.
Podcast:
Martin Blanco announced that he forwarded via e-mail the first podcast featuring the NCAC and its mission.
Business:
Agenda:
Donna Mangiafico will include NCAC Officer reports as agenda items for regular meetings.
Bylaws:
Jennifer Johnston will forward information provided by the Selectman’s office regarding the bylaws, specifically how to terminate a member’s appointment.
Financial Procedure:
Debbie Aurelia will submit the procedure for depositing checks for the NCAC and applying for reimbursement for expenses including copies of required forms.
2008-2009 NCAC Officer Positions:
The annual election of NCAC officers is scheduled for the June 26, 2008 meeting. The following NCAC members have been nominated to hold officer positions for the 2008-2009 year:

Next Meeting:
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 7:00 PM in the Old Courtroom at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, CT.
The following items will be presented:
1. Annual election of NCAC Officers
2. Annual review of bylaws
3. Review of Calendar July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2009
