CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
REGULAR MEETING
March 27, 2007, 6:00P.M.

PRESENT:  HOVIOUS, WRIGHT, CRAMER, FERGUSON, WILSON, KALEY
ALSO PRESENT:   ROB SIBLEY

Executive session to discuss potential purchases of properties – started at 5:00 p.m.

The public hearing was called to order at 6:00 p.m.

l.      Public Participation
        There were no members of the public present

2.      Approval of Minutes
Commissioner Wright moved to approve the minutes of 1/9/07 with the following change:  Item 4. should read 78 points not 78%.  Seconded by Commissioner Cramer as amended.  The motion was unanimously carried.

The minutes of 2/27/07 were tabled till the next meeting

3.      Old Business
i.      Newbrook Subdivision
Attorney James Murphy, Gregory and Adams P.C., representing the applicant explained the revised plans.  He submitted a letter dated March 27, 2007 regarding the Commission’s duties and pertinent subdivision regulations.  He considered the application to be within the regulations and asked for a positive referral.

Matthew Popp, Landscape Architect for the applicant described the topography and vegetation on the site.

The Commission had several questions, after which they agreed to look through the file and discuss the matter at the next meeting.

ii.     Commerce Road Economic Development/Open Space Discussions
Commissioner Kaley had previously distributed a report on the EDC meeting.  Plans for the proposed workshop which was to include representatives of all Commissions was dropped due to conflict of interest.  The Commission should determine what part of the property they want for open space.  The goal is to protect the stream and views.  Mr. Sibley will generate a map to work with.  Once the subcommittee has researched the matter and reported to the Commission, the EDC will be invited to attend a future meeting to discuss the matter.

Publicity
Commissioner Cramer reported back regarding a proposed letter for the Danbury News Times which was not received enthusiastically.  The Commission discussed the best approach.  They will consider an interview/article.

Commissioner Cramer moved to adjourn.  Seconded by Commissioner Wright.  The vote was unanimous.  The meeting adjourned at 8:02 p.m.
