Minutes of the Meeting of June 9, 2010   

Minutes of the Meeting of the Borough of Newtown Zoning Commission on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Borough Room, Town Hall South, 3 Main Street, Newtown, Connecticut.  Chairman Linda Shepard called the meeting to order at 7:25 p.m.

Present:        Linda Shepard, Douglas Nelson, David Francis, Brid Craddock, Lucy Sullivan and Alternate: Palmer Chiappetta.  Also Present:  Zoning Enforcement Officer Jean St. Jean and Borough Attorney Donald Mitchell.

Absent: None.

A motion was made by Mr. Francis to accept the minutes of the May 12, 2010 meeting, seconded by Mrs. Sullivan and unanimously approved.

Old Business:

a.      School Buses - Discussion took place regarding school buses on residential properties.  A motion was made by Mr. Francis that no amendment is necessary because parking and storage of school buses in residential zones is prohibited under the Borough's zoning regulations.  The motion was seconded by Mr. Nelson and unanimously approved.
b.      Acceptance of any new applications - The Commission accepted the application of Dr. Curtis Beck to revise Sections 4.10D, Article 5 Table, 7.09.A.3, 7.09.B and 7.09.C to allow the Commission more discretion regarding landscape buffers between residential and non-residential zones.  
c.      Signs - There were no sign applications.
d.      There was no other old business to discuss.
        
New Business:
  • Attorney Mitchell and Mrs. St. Jean informed the Commission of the matter with United Water Company and the DPUC regarding the waterline extension from Newtown to the Greenridge residential section of Brookfield.
  • Any other new business - There was no other new business.
There being no other business to transact the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.  The next meeting is scheduled for July 14, 2010.
