Minutes of the Meeting of February 11, 2009

Minutes of the Meeting of the Borough of Newtown Zoning Commission on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the Borough Room, Town Hall South, 3 Main Street, Newtown, Connecticut.  Chairman Linda Shepard called the meeting to order at 7:15 p.m.

Present:        Linda Shepard, Douglas Nelson, David Francis, Brid Craddock and Lucy Sullivan and Alternate: Palmer Chiappetta.  Also Present:  Borough Attorney Donald Mitchell (arrived at 7:35 p.m.) and Borough Coordinator Jean St. Jean.

Absent: None.   


Old Business:

a.      David Stein of Silver, Petricelli & Associates of Hamden was present representing Wachovia.  The dumpster that was originally approved is no longer required.  And the three condensing units will be in the same location just smaller.  And, they will be enclosed so you will not see them and it will screen the noise.  There were some questions posed to Mr. Stein by the board members.
b.      There was no other old business.


New Business:

a.      Any new proposed signs –
        i.      Tony Freitag of Site Enhancement Services was present on behalf of Wachovia regarding their signs.  Mr. Freitag submitted a package dated February 10, 2009 depicting the proposed signs.
        ii.     Rob Kopak, a member of the Knights of Columbus, was present to present the Knights of Columbus sign application for their Fish Fry (held at St. Rose Church) being held on 2/27, 3/6 and 3/13.  Discussion took place regarding the signs and the application.  Mrs. St. Jean asked him to make some corrections to the application and bring it to her at the Zoning Office together with the $25 fee.

b.      Acceptance of any new applications – None.

c.      There was no other new business.

The public hearing for the My Place application will take place at the March 11th meeting.

Mr. Francis made a motion to approve the revised smaller mechanical enclosures as shown on a map dated January 26, 2009 and as presented to the Zoning Commission at their meeting of February 11, 2009, seconded by Mr. Nelson and the vote was:

Mr. Nelson made a motion to approve the signs for Wachovia as presented in the package dated February 10, 2009 as submitted to the Borough Zoning Commission, seconded by Mrs. Sullivan and the vote was:

Lucy Sullivan   Yes

There being no other business to transact the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.  The next meeting is scheduled for March 11, 2009.
