45 MAIN STREET
NEWTOWN, CT 06470

PRESENT: CHARLES V. FRAMULARO JR., MARIANNE BROWN, AND JOHN GODIN
ALSO PRESENT: CHRIS KELSEY

1. Kenneth & Erica Canfield, (MV)
·       Mr. & Mrs. Canfield have a 1994 Chevy S Truck assessed at $2,500. They feel that the value the town applied to the truck is inaccurate. Truck has aged and has high mileage. The mileage on the odometer read 183,983 verified by John Godin.
·       Approved: 1994 Chevy S Truck assessment was reduced by $564 by taking 40% of the trade-in value of $2,025 which equaled $810 off of the NADA full value of $3,575. After 40% reduction the new 100% value is $2,765. The new assessed value is $1,936.

2.       George Daniels III, (MV)
·       Mr. Westberg has a 1998 Ford Ranger assessed at $4,290. He disagrees with the fact that the assessment is based off of a clean retail value. The truck has a second motor and has excessive mileage/wear & tear. The mileage is 233,000+.
·       Approved: 1998 Ford Ranger assessment was reduced by $1,217 by taking 40% of the trade-in value of $4,350 which equaled $1,740 off of the NADA full value of $6,130. After 40% reduction the new 100% value is $4,390. The new assessment value is $3,073.

3.       Jacqueline Melycher, (MV)
·       Ms. Melycher has a 1998 Honda Civic assessed at $5,425. She went to the Board of Assessment Appeals in March for her 2007 supplemental bill in which the assessment was reduced at that time to $1,999. Second year appellant coming in to get it reduced for going forward. High mileage/wear & tear.
·       Approved: 1998 Honda Civic assessment was reduced by taking 5% off of the previous approved value of $1,999. The new assessment value is $1,899.

4. Edward Petit, (MV)
·           Mr. Petit has a 2003 Audi A8 assessed at $12,720. Disagrees with assessment
because the value of the car is less than what the NADA claims. The NADA
doesn’t take into account age & condition. The car also has excessive mileage
due to daily commute. The odometer read 204,153 miles verified by John
Godin. Believes the motor vehicle is worth $5,000 at the most.
·           Approved: 2003 Audi A8 assessment was reduced by $3,987 by using the
mileage chart. For a mileage class 5 with 150,000+ miles it allows $5,700 off
of the 100% NADA value of $18,175. That brings the new 100% value down to
$12,475. The new assessment value is $8,733.

5. Clarence Schneider, (MV)
·        Mr. Schneider has a 1987 Chevy V10 Conv. assessed at $2,880. Disagrees with
the assessed value because the truck is over 20 years old & has excessive
mileage. Believes the truck should have a flat assessment of $500.
·           Approved: 1987 Chevy V10 Conv. assessment was reduced by $2,380. Truck
assessment was reduced to $500 based on the antique motor vehicle affidavit.

6.  Marcus Schulz, (MV)
·           Mr. Schulz has a 1995 Chevy Lumina assessed at $1,680. Plates were turned in
on the motor vehicle and he is most likely going to junk the car. Car has a bad
transmission and high mileage. The mileage on the odometer read 154,305.
Currently, the car is being used for parts on his 1999 Lumina.
·           Approved: 1995 Chevy Lumina assessment was reduced by $397 by taking
40% of the trade-in value of $1,175 which equaled $470 off of the NADA full
value of $2,400. That brings the new 100% value down to $1,930. The new
        assessment value is $1,283.

7.  Marcus Schulz, (MV)
·           Mr. Schulz has a 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada assessed at $2,780. Believes
assessment is too high based on excessive mileage. Mileage is 163,000+. Car
also has wear & tear. The motor ticks and no heat or AC. Unable to sell the car
most likely going to junk it soon.
·           Approved: 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada assessment was reduced by $641 by
taking 40% of the trade-in value of $2,300 which equaled $920 off of the
NADA full value of $3,975. That brings the new 100% value down to $3,055.
The new assessment value is $2,139.

8.  Suzanne Dewitt-Williams, (MV)
·           Mrs. Williams has a 1989 Saab 900S assessed at $1,910. Disagrees with the
assessed value because the Saab is over 20 years old & the car is on blocks
because it doesn’t run anymore. Believes the value is much lower & the plates
were turned into DMV on 7/28/09.
·           Approved: 1989 Saab 900S assessment was reduced by $1,410. Saab
assessment was reduced to $500 based on the antique motor vehicle affidavit.

9.  Richard Williams, (MV)

assessment value based on the excessive mileage. The mileage on the Jeep is
       130,000+.
·           Approved: 2004 Jeep Liberty assessment was reduced by $2,472 based on the
mileage chart. For a mileage class 2 with 130,000 miles it allows $3,525 off
of the 100% NADA value of $10,150. That brings the new 100% value down to
$6,625. The new assessment value is $4,638.

10.  Richard Williams, (MV)
·           Mr. Williams has a 2008 Mazda 3 assessed at $13,200. Disagrees with the
assessment value based on the excessive mileage. The mileage on the Mazda is
       26,000+.
·           Approved: 2008 Mazda 3 assessment was reduced by $438 based on the
mileage chart. For a mileage class 1 with 7,500 miles it allows $625 off
of the 100% NADA value of $18,857. That brings the new 100% value down to
$18,232. The new assessment value is $12,762.
