Storm Damage Report
The Town of Newtown has experienced numerous electrical power disruptions due to the strong storm that entered our area late this afternoon. We are at 37% outage with 10 or more roads closed due to wires down. And major intersections are without traffic signals - please be careful as you move about town!

At this time, all emergency services along with PW crews are actively working on making the Town of Newtown safe for travel. The police and fire departments are responding to downed trees and power lines, along with medical emergencies and routine police calls for service. At 8:15 PM Eversource several crews entered Newtown to restore electrical service to the community. The Police Department, Newtown Emergency Management, PW Director, and First Selectman Llodra are actively working with utilities in prioritizing restoration efforts. We ask everyone to stay away from downed power lines and treat them as if they were energized and please be careful with any use of home generators. Please remember all the safety rules we established through the difficult storms we experienced through the past few years.

And, please call 911 if you experience any emergency.
