149-M SOLID WASTE COMMITTEE
January 25, 2011 Meeting Minutes
Kevin Jolicoeur called the meeting to order at 6:23 p.m. Present were committee members Nancy Wrigley, Jack Kozec, Kim Hughes and Kevin Jolicoeur.
Hughes motioned to accept the January 5, 2011 meeting minutes. Seconded by Kozec. There was no discussion and the motion passed unanimously.
The committee agreed that a cover sheet to the ordinance would be beneficial in promoting the information to the voting public. Ideas as to its content were discussed and Jolicoeur agreed to create a draft and email it to the members for review.
Members discussed methods to educate the residents about the ordinance and Jolicoeur said that he’d put together a ‘fact sheet’ that could be spoken on at the deliberative session. Wrigley offered to have copies of the ordinance and cover sheet made at the Staple’s store and would oversee this task. The committee agreed also to finding out if Mary Winglass, webmaster, would be able to conduct an email blast of the ordinance to all subscribers and lastly, to contact the Cable committee regarding broadcasting our cover page, via slide, on the local cable channel. Jolicoeur will contact Mary Winglass and the Cable committee.
After general discussion of the ordinance, Kozec asked if anyone knew if it could be amended at the deliberative session. Wrigley brought up the question of whether or not a Public Hearing was required before the March vote. Unsure of the answers, the committee accepted Wrigley’s offer to contact Town Counsel for direction.
The committee did not set another meeting date at this time but all were open to meeting at least one more time before the deliberative session, February 7th.
Jolicoeur adjourned the meeting at 7:30p.m.
