149-M SOLID WASTE COMMITTEE
Minutes of July 14, 2010
The meeting came to order at 7:15 with Nancy Wrigley, Town Administrator, Kevin Jolicoeur, Jack Kozec, Bob Bartlett, and Mary Marshall in attendance.
Kevin Jolicouer became the Chair of the Committee by consensus. Mary Marshall volunteered to function as the secretary.
Mission Statement: The Committee discussed many issues relative to efficient management at the transfer station, but agreed to limit the role of this committee to creating a Transfer Station Ordinance that can be enforced to insure efficient economical disposal of solid waste generated in the Town of Newton in compliance with all environmental laws.
Before the next meeting Kevin will contact other municipalities to obtain copies of existing effective ordinances that could be used as models. Nancy will report on the Selectmen’s discussion of the draft policy prepared by Chief Streeter. She will forward copies of this draft along with any ordinances from other towns to all committee members.
The committee will meet on July 28th at 7:00 PM.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.
