NEWTON BOARD OF SELECTMEN
DATE: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2011

PUBLIC MEETING

  • Call to Order, Roll Call Vote
Selectman Thayer called the meeting to order at 5:00pm. In attendance were Selectman Trisha J. McCarthy, Selectman Raymond D. Thayer, and Town Administrator Nancy J. Wrigley.  Selectman Foote and Office Manager Winglass were not in attendance.  Minutes were transcribed and typed by Town Administrator Nancy J. Wrigley.

  • Approval of Minutes
  • Selectmen’s Nonpublic Meeting minutes dated September 13, 2011
  • Selectmen’s Public Hearing minutes dated September 20, 2011
Selectman McCarthy motioned to accept the Selectmen’s Nonpublic Meeting minutes dated September 13, 2011 and September 20, 2011.  Second by Selectman Thayer. Vote: Unanimous.

  • Scheduled Business:
There was some discussion about changing the “Polling Hours” and changing the “Deliberative Session” day to a Saturday.  The Selectmen said they would look into this and place it on an agenda in the future.


Selectmen’s Public Meeting September 27, 2011

  • Announcements
  • Selectman McCarthy announced that the “Community Emergency Preparedness Training” for town personnel and the public will be held on Saturday, October 8th and 15th at the Central Fire Station located at 35 South Main St. from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.
  • The Board signed a letter to Gregg Frappier in response to his letter received on September 1, 2011.
  • Other Business, Sign Manifests, Requisitions, Abatements, Tax Credits, Correspondence and Appointments
The Board signed the Payroll Manifest for the period of September 11-24, 2011.

  • Adjourn
Selectman Thayer made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:29 pm.  Second by Selectman McCarthy.  The vote was unanimous.
