NEWTON BOARD OF SELECTMEN

PUBLIC MEETING

  • Call to Order, Roll Call Vote
Selectman Thayer motioned to open the meeting at 4pm.  In attendance Selectman Raymond D. Thayer, Selectman Laurence B. Foote, Town Administrator Nancy J. Wrigley and Office Manager Mary B. Winglass.  Minutes were transcribed and typed by Office Manager Winglass.  

Chairman McCarthy was not present due to a work commitment.

  • Other Business, Sign Manifests, Requisitions, Abatements, Tax Credits, Correspondence and Appointments
  • The Board signed a requisition from the Recreation Commission for a bus for the July town wide trip to the Liberty Clipper Ship on July 20, 2011 for a total of $850.00.  The total number of passengers is 55.  This expenditure is to be paid out of the Summer Programs budget.


Selectman Foote motioned to accept the requisition for the July town trip to Liberty Clipper Ship for $850.00.  Second by Selectman Thayer.  Vote: Unanimous.
  • The Board signed a requisition from the Recreation Commission for basketball upgrades at Greenie Park for a total of $218.02.  This expenditure is to be paid out of the Greenie Park supply budget.
Selectman Thayer motioned to approve the upgrades to the basketball area at Greenie Park for a total of $218.02.  Second by Selectman Foote.  Vote: Unanimous.

  • The Board signed a letter to the Chief Financial Officer, Global Tower Partners requesting an increase to the Tower/Structure Removal Agreement to $16,500 and to wire the funds by June 30, 2011.
Selectman Thayer motioned to sign the letter to Global Tower Partners.  Second by Selectman Foote.  Vote: Unanimous.

  • The Board signed a letter to Rockingham Planning Commission informing them of the recent member appointment of Robert Miller and the existing appointment of Ann Miles who both have an expiration date of April 15, 2014.
  • The Board signed a letter to Family Mediation & Juvenile Services of Southern Rockingham County informing them of the existing appointments of Laura Bertogli and Kathleen Marino as Newton’s representatives to the Board of Directors.
  • The Board signed a letter in recognition for Eagle Scout Adam Nicol.
  • The Board signed the Payroll Manifest for the period of April 24th – May 7th
  • The Board signed a prepared contract between the Town of Newton and T & M Property Maintenance for the Greenie Park Field and Facilities Maintenance Contract.  This contract is based upon the bid award on April 25, 2011.

Selectman Thayer motioned to adjourn at 4:10pm.  Second by Selectman Foote.  Vote: Unanimous.
