SELECTMEN’S PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES
April 16, 2007
Chairman Ulcickas motioned to open the Public Hearing at 7:15pm. Second by Selectman McCarthy. Vote: Unanimous. In attendance were Chairman John P. Ulcickas, Selectman Robert S. Donovan Jr., Selectman Trisha J. McCarthy, Town Administrator Nancy J. Wrigley, Office Manager Mary B. Winglass, Fire Chief William Ingalls, Police Chief Lawrence Streeter and undisclosed residents.
Chairman Ulcickas announced that this public hearing is being held per RSA 31:95-b to accept and expend $62,123.00 from the 2006 Assistance to Firefighters Grant program. The total project cost is $65,393.00 with $62,123.00 as the Federal share and $3,270.00 as the town share.
Fire Chief Bill Ingalls stated that the Fire Department requested grant funding as a resource to replace the inadequate and severely worn Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, (SCBA). The funding from this grant will be used to acquire new, currently NFPA approved and fit-tested SCBA, in addition it will fund training personnel in the proper use, care and maintenance of the new equipment.
Chief Ingalls added that this new equipment will help improve the safety and effectiveness of the department as well as the mutual aid departments. Chief Ingalls stated that this is the fourth year that the department has filed for grant funding and he is very pleased that the grant application has been approved this year. The Selectmen thanked Chief Ingalls for applying for the grant funding over the past four years.
Chief Ingalls stated that the Fire Department budget will cover the town share of $3,270.00. Chairman Ulcickas asked if there was any input from the public. There were no comments or input from the public.
