SELECTMEN’S MEETING
October 12, 2005
Chairman Harding opened the meeting at 6:22pm. In attendance were Selectman John P. Ulcickas, Selectman Gary F. Nelson, Chairman Norman P. Harding and Town Administrator, Nancy J. Wrigley. Minutes were transcribed and typed by Office Manager, Mary B. Winglass.
Review of 2006 Preliminary Budgets
The Board reviewed the following 2006 preliminary budgets: Fire Department, Health Officer, Emergency Management and Solid Waste Disposal. The Board had some questions about the Solid Waste Disposal budget and noted that the Fire Department’s budget has only a 4.5% increase over last year’s budget.
The Board approved the Health Officer budget of $18,000. This budget had no increase over last year’s budget.
The Board then approved the Emergency Management budget of $13,250, which is a decrease of $6,150 over last year’s budget.
Chairman Harding motioned to accept the Health Officer 2006 budget at $18,000 and the Emergency Management 2006 budget at $13,250. Second by Selectman Nelson. Vote: Unanimous.
The Board then worked on the General Government Buildings budget. The discussion included repairs to the Town Hall and the Gale Library. Many projects were discussed such as insulation, ceiling fans, wiring, heating devices for the bathrooms and railings for the walkway at the Town Hall and repairs to the Gale Library. Another increase to this budget is due to the rising costs of utilities and oil. The Board prepared a preliminary total for this budget at $67,115, which is an increase of $23,200 over last year’s budget.
Selectman Nelson motioned to adjourn at 8:32pm. Second by Chairman Harding. Vote: Unanimous.
