RECREATION MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 30, 2011



CALL TO ORDER:    7:00 PM By Pauline Dupuis

BUSINESS DISCUSSED:

  • Lifeguards, Swim Coordinator, Swim Aids – Discussion on specifications for swim coordinator, lifeguards, and swim aids.  Advertisement written and read for acceptance by board.  Board voted to accept the advertisement and secretary to submit to board of selectmen for approval and submission to Carriage Towne News ,Lawrence Eagle Tribune and craigslist.  Discussion about pay rates for each of these positions took place.   A motion was made by P. Dupuis to bring before the board of selectmen that we should change the pay rate of the coordinator to $15.00 p/h for 35 hours for 10 weeks and make it a salaried position.  Lifeguards should be raised to $11.00 p/h for approximately 20 hours for 10 weeks, and swim aids to be paid $9.16 p/h for approximately 20 hours for 8 weeks. Seconded by M. Muskrat  Motion passed unanimously  
  • Barrels – Requisition to be submitted for payment to obtain extra barrels for town beach and Greenie Park.  Secretary to submit to town bookkeeper with meeting notes for payment.  
  • Greenie Park Maintenance Spec’s -- Discussion on specifications on Greenie Park Maintenance Contract regarding the mowing of the ball fields.  Matt Muskrat determined that the greens should be mowed twice a week until July 4, then 8 times until the end of the season.  Mosquito control issue discussed and it was determined that dusting will need to be done earlier in the season as the mosquito’s are bad even in spring.  R. Thayer to see if the selectmen can ask Dragon if they can spray starting in May.
  • Easter Egg Hunt – S. DiMercurio has spoken to the Girl Scout Rep regarding this issue and it has been determined that this activity will not be able to be done this Easter (Girl Scouts do not have enough troops to properly hold the event). This will be tabled until October, 2011 when we can better plan it with them
  • PORTABLE TOILETS – Discussion on number of potties needed at Park for summer season.  It has been determined to keep the number the same as last year. Secretary to make sure contract has been received.  
  • COMPUTER ISSUEMotion was made by S. DiMercurio to pay for computer spyware for P. Dupuis computer.  Seconded by T. Hansen  Motion Passed Unanimously
  • APPLICATION FOR PERMIT – Matt Muskrat submitted an application for permit for NBSA to use the fields at Greenie Park.  Motion was made by T. Hansen for NBSA to use the field for baseball and softball games and practices.  Seconded by R. Thayer Motion passed unanimously.  S. DiMercurio to submit application to board of selectmen for approval.
  • MAY TRIP TO PORTSMOUTH MUSIC HALLMotion made by P. Dupuis to cancel this trip as the recreation commission did not allow enough time to get all necessary monies needed passed.  Seconded by T. Hansen Motion passed unanimously
  • GREENIE PARK CLEAN UP DAY --  M. Muskrat has brought before the board that the NBSA will be holding a CLEAN UP GREENIE PARK day on APRIL 16.  The Recreation commission will have this posted on town website and see if we can have the Carriage Towne News write an article about this.
