RECREATION MEETING
February 9, 2011
Meeting Called to Order at : 7:25 pm

OLD BUSINESS:
- Contract for Maintenance of Greenie Park, Town Beach
Dave Marden submitted his contract for the maintenance of Greenie Park and other Town properties. However, the contract could not be submitted for bid as there were some changes to be made. The contract is the same as last year except it needs to be rewritten to include the barrels at the town beach and also the barrels at the boat ramp. Discussion as to how many barrels to obtain for park, beach, and boat ramp. A decision was made to get the following:
Greenie Park – 8 Barrels
Town Beach – 4 Barrels (2 trash 2 recycling)
Boat Ramp – 2 Barrels (1 trash 1 recycling
Submission of contract Tabled until next meeting to give Dave time to rewrite and come up with a schedule for pickup of barrels. Ray to find out from selectman’s office if dump sticker can be given to Dave Marden for disposal of the barrels.
NEW BUSINESS
Matt brought up some issues that baseball committee is concerned about and that he thought may be something that the recreation committee could help with. The following are the issues expressed:
Build additional storage shed
Possibly 50% of cost from recreation and 50% from baseball committee. Matt received a quote to build a new cement block building like the concession stand which is about $4100.00 Issued Tabled at this time.
Gray Water issue
Matt received email from a resident who is a plumber who said that he could do the work necessary to fix this issue for under $1000. Further discussion found that it should be made a priority so a motion was made by Matt Muskratt that the Recreation Dept approve fixing the gray water issue pending the quote from Ken Dun. Ray Thayer seconded and the motion was passed unanimously
Info Board at Park
Matt suggested that an information board should be put up to post information townspeople would want to know about. This was tabled until next meeting
Additional Picnic Tables
Would like to add 3 Additional Tables at Park and 2 additional tables at Beach. Tabled until next meeting
Scoreboard
Possible donation from Coke/Pepsi Baseball to look into. Issue also tabled
Flagpole
Handicap Signs in Parking Lot
- Pauline wrote a letter to the editor for the Carriage Towne News about our April trip which Susan DiMercurio read for approval. It was ok’d and will be email to Carriage towne news as soon as trip is approved
- By-laws were reviewed and suggestions made. Ray to look into to see if they can be updated
- Suggestion made by Matt Muskratt to start a Recreation Dept Newsletter. He will draft the first copy for review at next meeting.
