NEWTON RECREATION COMMISSION
MINUTES OF MEETING
SEPTEMBER 8, 2010
- Call to Order: Chairman Deb Holden called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm with the following members in attendance: Deb Holden, Pauline Dupuis, Matt Muskrat, and Ray Thayer, BOS ex officio. Minutes were transcribed by secretary Lisa Babcock.
- Acceptance of Minutes:
Motion by Holden to accept the minutes of August 25, 2010 as written. Second by Muskrat. Motion carried unanimously.
- Town Beach: The secretary will contact G. Mello to have the dumpster removed from the town beach on September 30th.
Holden will contact the road agent to see if the road crew can pick up trash at the town beach as there has been a problem with littering lately.
The secretary will contact Triangle Portable to make sure the chemical toilet was removed from the beach on September 7th.
- Senior Trip to Salem Willows: The trip will be held rain or shine. Only about 12 people have signed up. The commission decided to go ahead with the trip. The secretary will check calls Friday and contact Holden with the count and list of names and phone numbers. Dupuis will hand out flyers at the polls. The secretary will contact the town moderator for permission to hand out flyers.
- Fall Fair: A plaque will be presented to Emma Ingalls as the oldest Newton Resident. Muskratt will contact Charmingfare Farm for a petting zoo. He will also create a vendor registration form. The secretary will contact Sign Designs and get numbers for the signs. Muskratt will contact NBSA to see if they want to participate. Dupuis will run bingo.
The secretary will check with Nancy Wrigley to see if we can get an insurance rider to get a bounce house and will contact Dawn Sylvester about “pay per ride” pony rides.
- Greenie Park: Field use Request. The commission reviewed a field use request for a model airplane club.
Holden moved to approve the Greenie Park field use request. Second by Thayer. Motion carried unanimously.
- Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned at 9:50 pm.
