  • Beach Sign – the sign needs to be updated.  This item was tabled until the next meeting.
  • Town Beach Update: Dave Marden will be meeting with Holden to look at the picnic tables and decide how best to install them at the beach.
Holden suggested contacting Family Mediation Services or Occasio's Martial Arts for volunteers to do some weeding at the beach.

There was some discussion about purchasing new trash barrels for the beach. Holden suggested moving the beach trash barrel to Greenie Park and purchasing 2 new barrels for the beach at the end of the year.

Holden reminded the commission that a volunteer will be putting flooring down in the guard shack.  She will also purchase a plastic storage container to keep mice away from the files in the shack.

The beach will officially close on August 26th.  Jon Holden will bring the jackets and chair cushions to the office for winter storage and put up the "No Lifeguard on Duty" sign.  He will also collect keys from the lifeguards and hand out their last paychecks.

  • Summer Programs: Rick Bailey will hold a fall tennis session.  Holden asked that summer programs be added to the next agenda so the commission can review signups and see how the programs went.
  • Senior Programs: Babcock will create a flyer and mail it to the seniors on the mailing list.  Dupuis will contact the local stores and see if Recreation can display the flyer.  The trip is to Pickering Wharf.
Holden moved to spend up to $88 out of Senior Programs for stamps for mailings to seniors.  Second by Dupuis. Motion carried unanimously.
Thayer moved to pay $795 out of senior programs to the Coach Company for the bus for the trip to Pickering Wharf and to pay for the rest of the trip (dinner, trolley, museum passes) using the Recreation Credit Card.  Second by Holden. Motion carried unanimously.

  • Fall Festival: Holden asked the secretary to get a save the date out to the town departments about the fall fair.  Holden will look into getting a petting zoo.
The commission may ask the band "Three Play" to play at the fair.  Holden will also book the DJ.

Dupuis suggested a prize for the oldest person at the fair.  Ray will ask about getting the cider press.  Holden suggested having a chili contest, hopefully run by the fire department.

Holden suggested putting an ad in the CTN looking for venders and crafters. Babcock will check with Local Government Center and the RSAs for rules on raising and charging money.

Holden asked each member to come to the next meeting with ideas for the fall festival.

  • Greenie Park: A site walk will be conducted on Saturday, August 28th at 8:00 am to discuss trimming trees at the park entrance.  Members of the Conservation Commission are expected to attend.
A final invoice was submitted for the pavilion because additional supports had to be added.

Holden motioned to pay $111.49 out of the recreation checking account to Jack Kozec for supplies needed for supports for the pavilion. Second by Thayer. Motion carried unanimously.
