Meeting Minutes
June 17, 2010

1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm with the following members in attendance: Deb Holden, Rick Bailey, Ray Thayer, BOS ex officio and Lisa Babcock.

Also in attendance: Jon Holden, Swim Director.

2. Town Beach Staff Contracts and Hours of Operation: The Commission reviewed the lifeguard and swim aide contracts with terms as follows:
        Lindsay Hodgeman, lifeguard at $9.39/hr.
        Chris Hodgeman, lifeguard at $9.39/hr.
        Jillian Holden, swim aide at $7.54/hr.
        Angela Palladino, swim aide at $7.54/hr.
        Allie Antczak, lifeguard at $9/16/hr.
        David Malek, lifeguard at $9/87/hr.
        and Jonathan Holden, swim director at $515/wk.

All contacts are to be paid out of the Beach/Swim Program Salaries budget line.

Mr. Bailey moved to accept the contracts as noted above for 4 lifeguards, 2 swim aides and 1 swim director. Second by Mr. Thayer. Discussion: the motion was amended by Bailey to include the following: all lifeguards, the swim director and Angela Palladino will work up to 10 weeks, Jillian Holden will work up to 6 weeks. Thayer seconded the amendment. The motion carried 3-0-1 with Deb Holden abstaining.

Mr. Bailey moved to send a memo to the Board of Selectmen recommending that they allow Ms. Palladino and Ms. Antczak to work while waiting for the background check reports.  Second by Thayer. Motion carried unanimously.

Ms. Holden moved to set the lifeguard hours to Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.  Second by Bailey. Motion carried unanimously.

3. Swim Raft: The swim director noted that the raft should be dropped off on Monday, June 21st between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.

4. Town Beach Party: The Beach Party will be held in August.

Mr. Bailey moved to spend up to $500 for the Town Beach Party to be paid out of the Summer Programs budget line. Second by Ms. Holden. Motion carried unanimously.

5. Town Beach Equipment: Two tables have been destroyed. They will be broken up and removed.

The commission members will look into purchasing picnic tables and will make a decision at the next meeting.

Ms. Holden will get a quote from Dave Marden for installing some of the equipment at the Town Beach.

Mr. Bailey said he spoke to Ron Pica, the owner of the campground that abuts the beach, about the installation of the new fence.  The wooden fence posts were left up as they mark Mr. Pica's property line. The new fence will be installed within the town beach property line sometime during the week of June 21st.

7. Adjourn: Mr. Thayer moved to adjourn at 7:22 pm.  Second by Bailey. Motion carried unanimously.
