Call to order
Gary Nelson called the meeting to order at 7:45 pm with the following members present: Nancy Slombo, Deb Holden and Lisa Babcock. Minutes were recorded and transcribed by secretary/alternate, Lisa Babcock.

Also in attendance: Mike Bonin from the Newton Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA).

Chemical Toilets Bids
Three bids were presented for the chemical toilets at Greenie Park and the Town Beach.  Each company bid on providing handicap accessible units. Triange $178.20 ea, Pete’s Sewer Service $135.00 ea, and Dave’s Septic $200.00 ea.  Prices are per month.  

Slombo moved to accept the bid from Pete’s Sewer Service for two handicap units at $135 each.  Second by Nelson. Motion carried unanimously.

The secretary will contact Pete’s Sewer Service and have them deliver the units as follows: Greenie Park – 1 handicap unit for April 1 through mid November and 1 handicap unit at Town Beach for June 1 through August 31.

Newton Baseball
Mike Bonin provided a sketch for the proposed batting cage modifications.  He also said that he had contacted several companies for the field maintenance and they would look at the fields and bid on the job once the snow cleared.  

Slombo reminded everyone that the budget allowed for 26 cuts and that the grass at the Town Beach also had to be mowed once per month as part of the contract.

Calendar
Tabled until March 26th meeting.

April Vacation
Holden will contact Skateland for Thursday or Friday of April vacation, the cost is $300.

Holden also suggested booking the “Good Old Days Song & Hat Show” for May and will contact the performer.  Babcock will contact Packer Meadows to ask about a location.

Easter Egg Hunt/Girl Scouts
Receipts were handed in for supplies for the Easter Egg Hunt totaling $217.55.  The gym rental cost is expected to be about $120.  

Slombo moved to pay the $37.55 extra to cover the costs of the Easter Egg Hunt.  Second by Nelson.  Motion carried 3-0-1 with Babcock abstaining.

Other Business - Newton Babe Ruth
Nelson stated that he was getting screens for batting practice and would bring in the receipts.

Other Business – Alternates
Nelson stated that it had been brought to his attention that the Recreation Commission bylaws only allowed for 1 alternate.  

Nelson moved to allow up to 3 alternates and amend the bylaws. Second by Slombo. Motion carried unanimously.

Other Business – Road Race
Holden said she was working on a letter for the Road Race to be held in conjunction with the Fall Fair.  Nelson suggested checking with Ann Miles to see if she did or did not want to have the Medieval Fair and Fall Fair on the same day again.

Adjourn
Motion by Nelson with second by Slombo to adjourn at 9:00 pm.  Motion carried.
